The Vietnam War
The Vietnam War is one of the most controversial wars in our history. The Vietnam War was a proxy war of the cold war and started due to the Vietnamese communists (Viet cong) attempting to drive out the French capitalists living in Vietnam. The war started to blow out with the arrival of the US in 1954 after the Viet Cong had defeated the French. The US set up a separate Government in South Vietnam. The Vietnam War has many factors that made it controversial including the US’s continued involvement, the domino effect which ultimately led to Australian and New Zealand troops fighting in Vietnam and the use of deadly chemicals such as Napalm and Agent Orange which had severe health effects on people and their family. It was a war between the North communists and the south Capitalists which led to many deaths and a very controversial war.
